Crazy Bed Hair

Julie’s hair has finally gotten long enough to get disheveled while she sleeps. The other morning we went in to get her and her hair looked like this:

We are so excited that her hair is getting longer! Still not thick enough to do anything with it yet, but we are getting close!

Also, this week Julie turned 9 months! Hurray for her! Today she had her doctor’s visit (no shots this time!) and she is just healthy and chunky and cute! Got to love that. She crawls and cruises all day long, pulls herself up on anything that is sturdy (as well as lots of things that aren’t), LOVES to go outside, plays peek-a-boo with me (she thinks she’s the most clever little girl ever), claps her hands, and nothing calms her down at night except for books and occassionally singing. Oh, and she’s getting her second tooth! Luckily, though, this one seems to be coming in MUCH nicer than the first one did. Julie is just a a bundle of energy, but we love her so much! I can hardly believe she’ll be a year old in just 3 months! Wowzers. Well I’ll finish with Julie’s new way of sleeping:

3 Years and Counting

Yesterday was our 3rd anniversary! It has been a great three years. They have gone by so quickly... and yet it feels like we've been together for so much longer! I love being married to my best friend. He is funny (no matter how grumpy or sad I am he can always make me smile), hard working, smart (I couldn't do any of his classes!), honors his priesthood, loves his little girl, and loves me. What more can a girl ask for?! Happy 3 years together, Love.

Happy Father's Day

This is a few days late, but Happy Father's Day to all you Dads out there, particularly my dad, Arek's dad, and, of course, Julie's dad. It was Arek's first father's day and to celebrate I made him waffles and oj, and also gave him salt water taffy and made an oreo cheesecake for dessert that night. But the biggest thing I did was not make him change a single diaper all day long, which is a big deal for me because he is always so good about changing Julie's diapers, especially on the weekends. Thanks, hon, for being such a great dad! I love watching Julie's face light up when you come home from work... it's priceless. You are an amazing dad! We love you tons!

Fun in the Sun

The past few days we have been in sunny, HOT St. George with my sister Katherine. Despite the ridiculously hot weather, we had a blast just relaxing and playing. My Auntie Cheryl and Uncle Ed were amazingly kind and let us stay at their house, and also let us spend hours in their pool and jacuzzi. It was so much fun. I was a little nervous if Julie would like the deep water, but she took to it so quickly and loved chilling in the pool until her feet became pruney. Here are some photo memories.

And, finally, the whole reason why we went to St. George:
Kat and I got to see "The Little Mermaid" at the Tuacahn Theater. We had a blast... and although it is definitely geared towards kids, we loved it. SO happy we got to see it!

It was a great little trip, but we are SO happy to be home, too!

Adventures of a Weekend

Our bottom kitchen drawer is filled with tupperware. Julie loves this drawer… loves to open it, pull out bowls and lids, and then, occassionally, this happens:

And she can’t get out.

Saturday was an adventure. We got a flat tire, and discovered that we also had a flat spare, and ended up having to buy 4 new tires. However, we were able to go to the temple. That was great… and there were lots of people getting married, which brought back lots of memories since it’s nearly our 3rd anniversary. Julie got to be babysat by my parents. Since it was a gorgeous day outside they took her swinging and also filled up their kiddie pool for her. She was reluctant about the water at first, but eventually she discovered that playing in the pool was pretty fun.

Sunday, Jenny and Todd blessed Lilly. It was a lovely blessing, and was a lovely day to spend with family. Lindsey was in town with Liam and Ethan. It was so much fun to see how much they’ve grown. Julie thought it was awesome to tryto keep with Ethan and he taught her some new tricks, including crawling up the stairs. They had a pretty fun time. Julie was very pleased with her new trick.

Memorial Day Weekend, Part 2

Swing High, Swing Low

Julie and I stayed with family for the weekend. We came home Saturday night (with Katherine, who took pity on me and my dislike of sleeping at home without Arek) so I could teach music in primary on Sunday, but then it was down again after church until Monday when we came home with Arek. Our weekend wasn’t nearly as eventful as Arek’s. Unfortunately, we DID have the rain and overall gloomy weather all weekend. However, there was a little lapse on Saturday, which is when my parents hung a swing from a tree in their backyard and Julie got her first taste of swinging. It was a big hit, and I think it will become one of her favorite pasttimes at Grandma and Grandpa Glad’s.

Road Trip

Arek, his brothers Jared and Tiffer, and their brother-in-law Todd all went on a motorcycle trip last weekend. They drove down to Gunlock Reservoir where they camped, and then they took day trips from there. Between Friday and Sunday they saw: a ghost town, the Mt. Meadows Massacre site, Hoover Damn, the Tillmann Bridge that spans Lake Mead, drove through the Valley of Fire, rode through Zions National Park, passed by Bryce Canyon, up through Boulder and Escalante. By all accounts, it sounded like a fun weekend, and suprisingly they stayed dry the entire time… good thing they went down to southern Utah! They said the only wet day was Monday on their drive home. Here’s some photo evidence of their trip and sites they saw.Arek with Julie before they headed outpit stopghost townMountain Meadow Massacre monument

Baby Play Date

A few weeks ago my brother left on his mission to Samara, Russia (well, the MTC for now). At his little going-away party Julie met her second cousin once removed, or however the relationship works, for the first time. Ruthie (my cousin Cori’s daughter) was born just two weeks before Julie. Julie has never really played with other babies her age before, so it was fun seeing the two girls eye each other and then curiously poke and prod each other. Thanks to my aunt for taking these cute photos of the two of them!
